PAX Online East 2021: Passion Republic Games brings brawling kaijus with GigaBash

Even though the pandemic is still lingering around, that is not going to stop some really fun and interesting games from being shown as the second PAX Online convention, dubbed PAX Online East 2021, is in full swing this weekend. To kick things off, let’s take a look at a game that many wish there were more of, GigaBash.

When you think of giant kaiju monsters duking it out, there are a couple of games that come to mind: SNK’s King The of Monsters, Incognito’s War of the Monsters and the Game Cube version of Godzilla Destroy all Monsters and of course Rampage. Other than those four, there really hasn’t been a good game base on kaijus in a long time, and that’s a shame. You would think that with the resurgence of King Kong and Godzilla that there would be some kind of game released. Well Malaysian developer Passion Republic Games seems to have us covered with GigaBash.

GigaBash is a kaiju arena brawler that has up to four players battling it out against each other. The character range from monsters (or as they’re called in the game Titians) inspired by Toho kaijus to giant mechas and an Ultraman-esque hero. Each character has their own unique fighting styles and supers that transform them into S-class titans. The game will offer up various modes for players to stop around in such as a story mode that tells the tale of four different titans, a duel mode that allows players to challenge each other online, a battle mode that offers either a free for all battle or 2v2 and various couch multiplayer mini-games.

The game looks amazing so far: from the character design and destroyable environments to each character’s super/transformation GigaBash looks so much fun. The game is set for a release in early 2022 on PC via Steam PS4 and other systems to be determined. For more information about the game, you can check out GigaBash and Passion Republic Games on their website, passionrepublicgames.com, on Twitter @GigaBashGame, on Discord, and on YouTube.
