TGS 2017: Konami reveals Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner MARS

During his time at Konami before he left, Hideo Kojima was known for two franchises. One of course was the Metal Gear franchise. The other was Zone of the Enders, a sci-fi action mecha game. While the series didn’t revive as much critical acclaim as the Metal Gear series, it lived on as a cult classic and fans often request that Kojima return to the series once more once he was done with Metal Gear. But with Kojima gone and Konami refocusing their attention to pachislot machines, it seems that the closest we’ll get to a new ZOE game is the 2012 HD remasters. That might not be the case. At Sony’s Pre-TGS press conference, it was revealed that Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner will be making it was to the PS4 and PC as Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner MARS. Here’s the trailer that was shown during the conference:

MARS is based on the HD Resmaster version of ZOE 2 but with enhanced graphics, 4K support and will be VR compatible. In fact the subtitle MARS is stylized in all caps, with the letter a upside-down to make it look like the letter v. Its going to be interesting to see how gamers react to Konami bringing back the ZOE franchise without Kojima, even if its just a  remaster of a previous remaster. Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner MARS is set for a Spring 2018 release. No word if the game will get a Western release, but since the trailer was all in English we can presume that it will see a Western release.
