PAX South preview: Stellar by Dog Eat Dog Games

Now here’s a combo you don’t see everyday. Take a space shooter that can switch from 2D to 3D perspectives and add in rouge-like mehcanics and you get Dog Eat Dog’s new game Stellar. But before we get into the preview, let’s take a quick look at Dog Eat Dog Games.

Dog Eat Dog Games is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a fairly young studio that has only been opened since 2014. Even though they have been in the industry for about a year, Dog Eat Dog Games is staffed with some of Albuquerque’s passionate and dedicated indie developers. They plan to “move the industry forward by developing games in establish genres with differentiated mechanics”.

As for Stellar, the game looks like your basic space shooter with retro/old school inspired visuals and a really catchy soundtrack. I’m really interested in seeing how the 2D/3D mechanic works and how absorbing boss power ups enhances your ship. All will be revealed this Friday when I go see the game in action.
